Birthday Boy

Is it just me or do all children have the tendency to serve school notices just 5 mins before school bus ??!!  so frustrating at that rush hour of the morning, the notice comes screaming like a siren !!

Last night I set out to make a birthday card for Mr M, Eman’s class teacher. He is new to Dubai and hails from Ireland. That is just about when I realized I dont have many male oriented birthday cards.  So naturally I had a “valid excuse” for being cooped up for a  good hour and a half in the studio !

I dont know if it happens with most of you, but sometimes, I am so charged up that I can actually dole out  half a dozen  good cards in a night and sometimes, I spend the first 25 -30 minutes just looking frustratedly at the pile of papers or stamps or tools or all of it ! Sometimes there are so many wild and creative ideas bubbling up in my mind, that it  leaves me with none in hand ! Ever happened to you ?  So overwhelming.  I suppose its a ” Crafters Block ” if you may.

Last night was no different, I really had so much up my mind that I couldnt find the right direction.  Eventually though I did manage the card.

Well, except for the lacey border on the eggplant colored paper, I think this card feels right for the men folks. In any case, lets just hold the “thought that counts ” theory and be happy.

The mustardish paper with the black and pink dots is a first time for me and I really can begin to tell you how easy that print is to decorate. Some polka dots are difficult to arrange the other elements on.  Not this one.  This one was so sober. Everything just geled well with it.

Ceramic rusty leaves, cute beige buttons, a tag, a rubber stamped cupcake, and a digital image birthday sentiment. Alittle of paper layering and voila. The recipe is complete ! Enjoy.

Unfortunetly there arent any specific color challenges that this card qualifies. I dont wish to add this card again this week, for the button or lace challenges either. So here are the challenges that this card will enter :
