3 Easy and Fun DIY Crafts with Bottle caps

I love DIY Crafts – but I love crafts which recyle, upcycle and repurpose household items – more !

Today, we’re sharing 3 ways to recycle the humble bottle caps. The video carries a small tutorial to give you the basics of how to design these three crafts.

Here are what you’ll need.
This craft would be a hit for Chinese new year crafts or teaching kids the origin of the Chinese lantern.
6-8 of these little lanterns tied on a cord, hanging on the mantle, would look fabulous as home decor as well.
The twine just has to be wrapped around the lid. and its base. When complete, you can use it as fridge magnet, adorn it on hair accessories or use it as a broach.
I regretted using the thinner jute twine on the outer edge of the hat – it made the hot glue beads, visible. If I had to do it again, I would use a slightly thicker jute cord.
I had done the black hats almost a year back, hence their paint is scraped.

Can you think up of some more ways to reuse the bottle caps ?

Thank you for stopping by and writing to me. I truly appreciate it.

  2. As a dollhouse lover, I immediately thought your hats were for dolls! I use bottle caps for plant pots, lamp shades, waste baskets. Embellished with gold fancy braid and painted, they make elegant plant pots which would be great for air plants or fridge magnets! My kids (now 36 and 38) knew better than to throw out a tootpaste cap!

    • Kathy, I love constructing for doll houses too. TIny houses and tiny furniture brings me immense joy. Although I wanted to wear the hats as a broach, eventually I just made them fridge magnets. I’d love to see some of your mini plant pots.

    • 🙂 oh Shelbee !! I am so happy that you might try these out. The whole reason I started my blog was to inspire friends to try out these easy crafts – hence almost all of my projects have tutorials. I am really hoping your kids like these super easy bottle cap crafts too. You’ve put me in the mood to upload more kids crafts:)

  3. These are all very cute and creative!! The chinese lanterns are super cute, but I have to say that the hats are my favorite!! They would be really fun as a hair accessory! Thanks for linking up with The House That Stamps Built.
