Today my card is another Awning card, with a store window display of some purses.

Handmade Greeting cards in Dubai 9

valentines cards in Dubai

Some of the best friends, I have made over the years,  are from my college days.  What’s truly amazing,  is how our friendship withstood all the time lapses,  life threw at us.   Marriages, children, deaths of parents, accidents, illnesses, bankruptcies and even some, sainthood, thrown in, for added measure !!

We have been a very closely knit group of friends who have harbored our friendship, outside the realm of religious beliefs, language, upbringing and distances.  I am deeply honored to have had my favorite group of friends in SABNIK.

While I live in Dubai, the rest reside in India but not a year goes by when I am not remembered on my birthday and when I am not a part of the developments in their lives.  We may not Skype or whatsapp every other day, but there is a deep sense of satisfaction, knowing that we have eachother for guidance, support and occasionally, a kick up one’s backside 🙂 (when needed !!)

In an age, where, speed and technology has taken over our lives, I still find solace and a sense of belonging with these friends, who have stood by me, through hail and storms.

I’d like to dedicate card # 9 in the series of 14 cards – 14 days to Sabnik. My BFF’s when the term was not even coined !

I love how this card turned out ~ especiall with its rich and vibrant summery colors !  I have almost never used tags over tags so thats a first one for me. Ofcourse I have used border punch and the butterflies are also punches used with some Tim Holtz mist sprayed to add a dimension to them. It is also from the new card kit series.

Friends and sunshine.

Love the rich and royal blue about this card. Its such an eye catching color. The digital stamp of the window with the gorgeous flowers is ofcours a digital stamp as is the sentiment diecut. The pink bows are the only 3dimensional element since I felt the colors reached out so I did not feel the need for more 3D elements. The sky blue fabric paper is embossed with golden dots. All in all, I love this card and truly believe in the sentiment. Friends really are the sunshine of life 🙂

Friends and flowers.

Dear friends,

First off, I am so so happy to be back and connect with all of you’ll.

I know, I have been neglecting this blog for a couple of months but with good reason, I promise.

Not only the scores of restoration projects in the house but also in the courtyard and garage kept my hands full ~ literally ~ of spray paint and acrylics.  And then ofcourse, November/December are my peak months for craft classes as well as fairs. I have totally enjoyed the 6 fairs I participated it back to back thru out December ~ not to mention the greeting card orders that kept coming my way, until I had to stop being polite and refuse some of the orders. Ok so noooooow, I can hear some of you asking, how did I manage to stuff so many projects at one time ! Well, there you go ! Now you understand why this lovely blog, was being so neglected. Having said that, I now have heaps of projects to share with you’ll.

Well, for one thing, my newest best-est friends are power tools ! Yes, I mean, the electric jigsaw, sander and drill machine. Since almost two months, I have been having a complete blast chopping wood, sanding the pieces and drilling holes in them. I have been making wooden plaques and I just cant begin to tell you just how much fun it has been playing with paints and patterns. I have heaps of projects to show you but thats ofcourse for a later post. Again, I hear you, asking me, how I had the time to get involved in a new hobby !! Well, what can I say ??? Thats Naush for you. When the going gets tough, I get so enthused about trying out so so many creative avenues. To be very honest, I think, its  abnormal raging hormones ! 🙂

This new year brings with it a promise ~ a promise of change. Whether a change is for the good or for the worse is for time to prove and our own attitudes to see the glass half empty or half full.  But I have always felt, change, especially when it is not gradual, is always for the best and its easier to adjust. I look forward to making a few crucial decisions and I look forward to a few crucial decisions made FOR me by the Almighty.  And I totally look forward to making more and more new friends.

For some of you wondering, how come, I dont reply in the comment column. ~ well, I actually do. I write back personal messages to the person concerned on their email address which is supplied while she leaves a message for me.  These comments are very close to me and are food for my creativity.  You guys who visit me so often and leave so much love behind are priceless for me. Honest.

I had to submitt around 80+ new cards for samples and I wished to share some of the surplus designs that I had made in the past 2-3 weeks.

This card here, has such gorgeous colors. Nothing like the green grass and being sourrounded by spring flowers and jewelled butterflies. The cute angel mom/lady tending to her garden is a digital stamp from my dear friend Nikki of Melonheadz. The ribbon is one of my newer additions and so is the Martha stewart border punch. Awesome heart warming sentiment which is digi stamp cut by oval diecut.  I know, this could also be an ideal valentines card, which is just around the corner.  Imagine receiving such a lovely message from a friend.

Fabulous Friend.

My last post was about the preparation involved in setting up a craft exhibition at home. Well, I’ve got 3 days more to go and I have still not even scratched off 3 things out of the 15 tasks in my list 😦   OKAY, so I’m exaggerating !! But still, I am struggling with packaging of the embellishments which is such a tedious task, seems its taken F O R E V E R inspite of having help from the boys. So like I said in my previous post, plan much in advance. Few things have materialized like the advertising, posters, mailing friends and collegues etc.

I am hoping to be able to pick the spray paint for the racks and the hooks also for the racks today. I have 3 projects on my work station, 2 wall hangings and 1 small banner. They will have to take a back seat at the moment.

The project today is a card for the “CLEAR IT OUT” card challenge blog which is hosting the theme of CAS ~ clear and simple. I have come up with an extraordinarily simple card. Strangely its really difficult for me to play with the theme of CAS. I have to resist the temptation of adding elements, embellishments or stamping more than once.

I dont know about you guys but keeping it clean and simple also means that one has to know just which paper to play with and how to keep the focus to a bare minimum which is really difficult, if you ask me.  Although I have done such cards in the past, I somehow never felt comfortable enough to post them. Lets see what response this fabulous friend gets !

Here it is :

With all thats happening right now, I am not going to link this card with alot of challenges.

Here are the very few :

Thank you for visiting me today. Have a lovely week.

3Flower Pots for the Guest DT project.

Hello again my dear friends,

Truly, I was delighted by the turn out of such loving and concerned comments that came my way from all of you’ll for my ridiculously painful toothache episode. It really felt good to know, that I am not the only silly cow who frets and fumes over toothaches. This one being especially nasty since it was my wisdom tooth.

And guess what !!! It gives me immense pleasure to tell y’all that I have joined Clear It out challenge as guest design team member. Being a part of a team is always a special feeling for me. And to have my card featured on their challenge website is even more thrilling !!  I have designed this card with the theme in mind as per the challenge. I have used copics ie the first 4 that I bought yet !!!

I liked using the sentiment of “You are my Sunshine” for the 3 flowers potted in these cute dotted pots. Hence I have used a spotted DP too. 3 metallic butterfly charms and a ribbon knotted in the side. I hope I have done justice to the challenge. There are two different digital stamps here. The digital stamps of the flower pot is from Melon Headz.  The flower pot is repeated thrice while the sentiment is digitally stamped and die cut and layered over another larger diecut. Yes, plenty of layers in this card !

One thing I found strangely unique about this card is, that it can be gifted from a daughter/son to their mom or vice versa, or even from a husband to his wife or can be exchanged between best friends too !!

Yes, these are quite quite a few challenges, that my card will participate it. Lets hope I win some too.

I’d like to leave you with a quote that I often turn to. This quote inspires me, reminds me and humbles me.

“You are right where you Should be”.

Life is a journey not a destination ~ we grow, learn, change and experience our entire life ~ it will only get as beautiful or difficult in proportion to the effort, compromises and sacrifises we put into it.

Thank you very much my dear friends for taking the time to read my posts and leaving your comments. I look forward to each comment.

Regards

Naush
