This card is my first attempt at the backfold card. I really had fun working and letting my creativity play havoc with paper. The lace ribbon with that tiny line of gold is the first of its kind that I am using and if you notice closely, it has exactly the colors of the pattern paper. Three sparkling butterflies, 3 glittering green brads, a tag with a plaid ribbon, for leaving your personal message and a block with a simple sentiment digi stamp which could be given for a birthday, moving jobs, promotion, etc. The flower pot is also a digi stamp sitting on 3 scallop ovals. This card was all about fun fun and more fun. It is such a super cool and easy project.
Oh and BTW, I saw Grown Ups today. Nothing like an adam sandler movie to cheer you up 🙂 I wonder if any of you’ll have seen Zohan ? Also an Adam sandler movie. One thing I could identify with in Grown Ups was how our newer generation of kids have been so tube-oholic !! DH wonders why his boys are not out in the playground instead prefer to remain in their study room, no not studying, but glued to their computer screens, playing their boyish games or its the playstation or its some cartoons !! But its almost never being outdoors ! What can I say, I take half the blame here, Have not been a great role model, what can I expect from these poor ones ; I too am tapping the keys of my laptop most hours of the day 😦 Its not like they never cycle or go out to the park, but its just not how it used to be in hubby’s childhood. I’m sure we’re all wrong somewhere here. Anyway, just a thought .. any thoughts at your end ?
By the end of 2009, I was on a “high” for gatefold cards and then suddenly like most of the other whims in my life, I just stopped making em !! Last week was experimentation week, remember ? So naturally, after making the purse card and the square easel card, I felt, I could try out a gatefold card. This card was not made with any sketch in mind so it will not enter any sketch challenge. Unless something pops up today or tomorrow !!! 🙂
Just wanted to make a very bright and colorful card with lotsa fanciful flowers and ofcourse, that butterfly digi image is really a darling. Its something that really suits any happy occasion. The sentiment is lovely for wishing two people getting engaged or married.
There are a few challenges, this card qualifies, which are :
I loved keeping this card straight and non chaotic. Lots of symmetry was complimented by those little single flowers placed sideways to add a little dimension. The buttons too were only to add alittle color similar to the ribbon colors. And here’s my card :
I think I am really begining to enjoy all the excietment involved in these card challenges. Its really fun to use a sketch and later find out what and how another person interprets the same sketch in his own way.
I felt, this card was more “male oriented”. Probably I would’nt give a lady friend, a card with yellow/rust combination unless it had very feminine embellishments or notes in it, which this card does not have. Except probably for that little beige bow. Which I hoped I could use for a card challenge which called for a bow !!
I have used paper piecing, buttons, bow, tiny metallic star embellishments, threads, rust colored ribbons with stripes of gold, and ofcourse spellbinders nestabilities dies.
I have entered this card for the following sketch : Charisma Cardz
I loved this digistamp and was waiting to use it and voila this challenge popped up ! love the sketch .. leaves room for endless possiblilites. Again I have used the green patterned paper but used Black to highlight the small orange message box. Placed brads on the corners and 3 little metal stars under the message box.
This card is a truly “girlie” card, one that goes from a female to another female. Cant see it happening any other way. But the message is very cute. With loads of love. The little girl in a pinafore holding a basket full of flowers was real fun to do. Using pink and purple together was a first time for me but It turned out good eventually . The rest was simply paper piecing. Leaving this card for card challenge at : Inspirational Card Sketches. And heres the sketch :
I hope I have done justice to the sketch. Please leave alittle comment to tell me how you found this card.
A very simple card. I only had to work on the coloring details of the flowers and the rest was just so easy to match with a green patterened paper. Love the flow of this card. Simple and Elegant ~ Leaves ample space to decide what thoughts you want to use it for. The challenge mentions a criteria that there should be use of gems, therefore I have placed mine on the corners of the card.
