Not for wimps !

Hi friends, How was the week end ? Hope everyone is enjoying the summers. I loved this weekend. After what seems like ages, we went to movies and saw Transformers. I really dig GM cars and I love how the entire transformaion process¬†happens to the cars in the movie but the graphics and stunts in this transformers was simply “OUTSTANDING”

The boys enjoyed a good many hours at the Dubai Ski. They have a new super pass for dhs 200 each child, that entitles them to four of the more adventurous rides in addition to the regular snow park. I loved watching the boys going crazy in the snow when the temperature outside was 45 C ~ Yukh to that.

  • Boys are amazing¬†¬†~ they never tire ~ first they talk about whats going to happen in the movie endlessly, BEFORE we see the movie.
  • Then they talk hours together about how the action scenes took place, how the helicopters fell, optimus prime, the kid etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc …… if you were actually counting¬†those etcs then you know how annoying it can be when they go on and on and on …..
  • The weird thing is …. while the movie was on ….. Their 3D glasses were glued to them and their heads in just one direction for the whole 2 hours !!! Not a word out of them !!¬† ~~~~ While mom kept going,” wow”, “awesome”, “did you see that ???”¬† “Holy moly, now whos going to save them”, “Oh fish, his arms gone …… ”¬† Writing this right now, I know, they must feel the same way about me while they were excietedly watching the movie. Ok, I get it, Role reversals right ?? Ok Ok, I got it. I talk when they watch, they talk when I watch them !

Ok so lets get into what I have gotta share with you today ~~~~

This here, is a relatively simple plaque on foam board, with a simple message and two different period Moms. The office going/shopping away, confident mom dressed in bright summery colors while the other happy- at- home, super efficient homemaker, sewing away with all her worldly wisdom. Both with equally difficult and demanding jobs. Cooking, kids, office, deadlines etc. Not an easy task by any measure. Hence I really took to this sentiment.

Buttons for the homemaker and brads for the Career mom. Both the digistamps are from my friend Nikki from Melon Headz. Please remember to drop over at her site to pick some out-of-the-world free digital stamps.  The sentiment on the die cut  is also digital stamp, however, unfortunetly, I dont recall, whom does it belong to.

Love the check base DP ~ love the colors used in this project ~ truly timeless. The ribbon is satin.

 Here is the wall hanging.

3Flower Pots for the Guest DT project.

Hello again my dear friends,

Truly, I was delighted by the turn out of such loving and concerned comments that came my way from all of you’ll for my ridiculously painful toothache episode. It really felt good to know, that I am not the only silly cow who frets and fumes over toothaches. This one being especially nasty since it was my wisdom tooth.

And guess what !!! It gives me immense pleasure to tell y’all that I have joined Clear It out challenge as guest design team member. Being a part of a team is always a special feeling for me. And to have my¬†card¬†featured on their challenge website is even more thrilling !! ¬†I have designed this card with the theme¬†in mind as per the challenge. I have used copics ie the first 4 that I bought yet !!!

I liked using the sentiment of “You are my Sunshine” for the 3 flowers potted in these cute dotted pots. Hence I have used a spotted DP too. 3 metallic butterfly charms and a ribbon knotted in the side. I hope I have done justice to the challenge. There are two different digital stamps here. The digital stamps of the flower pot is from Melon Headz. ¬†The flower pot is repeated thrice while the sentiment is digitally stamped and die cut and layered over another larger diecut. Yes, plenty of layers in this card !

One thing I found strangely unique about this card is, that it can be gifted from a daughter/son to their mom or vice versa, or even from a husband to his wife or can be exchanged between best friends too !!

Here are the pics :

Yes, these are quite quite a few challenges, that my card will participate it. Lets hope I win some too.

I’d like to leave you with a quote¬†that I often turn to. This quote inspires me, reminds me and humbles me.

“You are right where you Should be”.¬†¬†

Life is a journey not a destination ~ we grow, learn, change and experience our entire life ~ it will only get as beautiful or difficult in proportion to the effort, compromises and sacrifises we put into it.

Thank you very much my dear friends for taking the time to read my posts and leaving your comments. I look forward to each comment.

Regards

Naush

Right here for you.. .. .. .. wall hanging

This too, is from the trash to wall hanging series. It is the white board which was found dumped on the construction site. You may have to read my post, ” Mother ~ Wall hanging” , to get the full story on it. In short, it is recycled sheets that I have dressed up.

A¬†very simple idea and concept is used. Have always liked the idea of using a fish bowl, although I dont approve of an animals or birds being caged or living in an aquarium ūüė¶¬† ~~¬†Thats just not their place. Again, thats us, humans being selfish and self centered.

Such strong shades of blue and Orange are not exactly what I am comfortable with, but sometimes, when you actually work with it, somehow they look good when placed together. Both are handmade papers. The fishes are fabric. Some glitter for the bubbles, 3 brown buttons knotted with a yellow twine,  a simple but comforting sentiment, which is a digi stamp. The board is held up by  a satin orangish ribbon. I have made a deliberate effort at avoiding any flowery embellishments, becoz as always, I prefer the less-cluttered look.  Simplicity is always more striking and attractive.

Ladies, I would really like to take a moment here, to thank you all for all those loving comments that you leave behind for me. They are so encouraging. WOULD you believe, I feel, more inspired, to try out more, to try out different, to try out my best, becoz of those heartfelt comments. Thank you ladies. It means alot.

I have been blessed with one of the nicest men in this world for a husband. I could write a book on him (and it would include mostly all of his qualities with a dash of his clumsiness and this and that and …… ) {You get the picture, right ? } ¬†But dont worry, I am not going there, right now…. phew !¬†

¬†However one of the major reasons, why we have any friction between us, is mainly becoz, when I find something thrown in a healthy state, I prefer to adopt it, thinking I may be able to refurbish it at a later stage and dress it up prettily. {NO¬†I am not a hoarder¬†~ ok, maybe just a tad bit} ¬†However,”THAT” does not happen all the time. What does, however, happen, is that, I find a suitable space for the said item¬†in my craft studio or the jam packed¬†shed and then …………….. forget about it.¬†(not deliberately forget about it … well my plates full with so many more projects at hand, isnt it ??? )

¬†Now THATS where the problem arises. DH believes in minimilistic living, (he should’ave been born in Japan !!) ¬†while yours truly, hates things thrown out which can serve a purpose at some later¬†stage. Naturally finding that “some stage” is the issue.

Well, I have done him proud on this particular occasion. Couple of weeks back, my car was parked near a construction area, and as we know, constuction areas are a treasure trove for crafters, not cardmakers or scrappers but definetly, crafters. So anyways, here in Dubai, everything is in excess even wastage ūüôā ¬†So there were heaps of cardboards and insultation packs thrown around. Thank God, Sam was not around, so I could ask one of the workers permission and just packed a few large white cardboard sheets in the car.¬†

The guy kept looking at me as though I was an alien ~ an abaya laden women comes in a GMC truck and takes “garbage” ….. it would have made news headlines for sure in 7days newspaper.¬† He kept saying “karabish ~ karabish” meaning trash in Arabic. Silly guy, little did he know what I had in mind for that trash. He couldnt fathom the possibilites of finding a dozen odd uses for that sheet.¬† But I could.¬†

Why bother to explain to him, that I am doing some good for the environment ?? He couldnt care less for the environment around him.

So anyways, long story short. Turns out that thick large sheet is very light in weight but sturdy enough not to bend or break. Perfect for a altered frames or wall hanging or door signs.

I cannot tell¬†you just how much¬†absolute fun I had,¬†giving¬†a new lease of life to a dead object. I hope you guys¬†like it too. So for the next atleast 6¬†posts, your going to see the “trash to¬†wall hanging ” series.¬†

This is how that white board was used after alittle sanding, polishing and distressing.

    This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I have included a picture of the white board, just to give you an idea of what it looked like.¬† What a joy ! Oh and one of the photographs of the flower pot close up shot, is just : me trying out some new editing for pictures which did not turn out all that great ūüė¶

Please do let me know, if you have ever picked something discarded shamelessly and created something functional with it.

This wall hanging is going to enter the following challenges.

Thank you so much for stopping by, I hope you return again.  Have a wonderful weekend ahead.

    Truly Amazing !

Somewhere last year, the owl’s were leading a riot. Everyone “WAS” crazy about them ! Me ? I still am crazy about them ! They are just so adorable. Perched up on a branch looking down sheepishly at the rest of us, having thoughts and opinions about the whole world ! No wonder so many disney productions portray them as the “Wisdom birds”.

There is another sketch challenge at  krista-kris-challenges: with a similar sketch as my previous sketch from :  Priscilla styles.

Since I loved this entire triangular division look, so much, I decided to make another one in similar design with different images and embellishments.

The pattern papers are new from my “guilt trip” shopping spree. The flowers are also from a new buy. The tiny green flower is diecut with a button over it. There are four glittering brads to go with it.

Imagine, what mom doesnt have her heart all melted up when she receives a card like this ??

Truly amazing !! I like it ūüôā

    No One Like You.

When I began with the concept of this card, it was really supposed to be something for a friend, perhaps could be used for valentines or just a special reminder to a good friend, neighbour, classmate … but turns out, it could also stand for a mother/daughter card too.

The elephant image is digital stamp and Ohhhh I just love those two cuties, arent they adorable ?? ¬†Ofcourse the pattern papers are from my new “guilt trip” buys. There’s some lace sticker, a cutie tag and a few fabric flowers with buttons over them. Doesnt green and pink, just appeal to the eye ? I found them so attractive but not ideal for the male¬†cards. I made a deliberate effort at placing a black and white ribbon dividing the background papers. Just¬†wanted to experiment the look !¬†

This card enters several challenges which I have mentioned just after the picture slideshow.

    Mother Card

It just occured to me, that in the last year or so, I havent even attempted a card for Moms. And it did’nt strike me until after I started working on this sketch and was wondering what embellishment would shine out .. I kept toying with the ideas … until in the pile of scrap, I came across this little strip that I had kept in my stash which read, “you bring out the best in us all”. It felt perfect and It really did’nt take too long to figure which relationship does that stem from. I had pasted 6 strips of ribbon and I had 6 metal alphabets for Mother .. Eureka.

Hope you like the card coz I do. Although my camera has not done justice with the light I had. Still, its good.

The sketch comes from : Craft Your Passion. at : http://craftyourpassionchallenges.blogspot.com/2010/12/challenge-36-sketch.html

    and here’s my take :
