12 Ways with Salt Dough !

Hi Friends !!

As the year is coming to a close, I pray, mother nature does not give us all any more, unexpected unpleasant surprises !!

My post today is about the many ways to use Salt Dough.  Salt dough and I go a long way back. When Buddy was 3, nearly 11 years back, I came across a recipe for salt-dough and got hooked to it !!    I find salt-dough as the easiest and most economic way of teaching children and adults to sculpt.  There are several recipes for salt dough if you google it but I prefer to keep the ingredients to the bare minimum.

For my, every 4-Week- workshop, that I conduct, I always keep atleast half a class for salt dough molding and sculpturing. Salt dough can be easily mixed and very easily made.  You can coat a layer of modge podge and then paint it with acrylic paints. If you want it to last longer, and don’t want the paint to fade, I suggest giving it one more coat of modge podge.

Today, I am sharing with you a dozen ways in which you can use Salt Dough.

Salt Dough designs can be shaped either by cookie cutters or freely by modeling and sculpturing the dough.

Corner Bookmark 1

Hello friends,

For someone who is rather lazy busy with “back to school” choas, surprisingly, I am keeping my end of the deal to post the 7 latest projects, I took up in september.

Here again are two corner bookmarks. I just love how they sit at the edge of a book showing their lovely colors against craft pages ! I am sure, you can find ther tutorials on Pinterest, however if you would like a tutorial, please do let me know and I can post it here. Honestly ~ It is super easy !! So here goes :-

These make excellent gifts between friends and neigbours as well. Just pop them over in tiny cellophane baggies and tie a ribbon/twine/raffia across the opening and Voila !! Not only are they so easy to carry around but imagine a gift which will remind your friend of you, everytime he/she opens a book and dives into its world !

Love Story Bookmark

I’ve always enjoyed making things with stuff lying around. There is just such a genuine joy knowing you were able to create something with bits and pieces. So is true with this very simple yet pretty (if I may say so myself !) bookmark.

The cardstock, DP and circle diecuts are leftovers of other projects ~ and I tell you, I have heaps where these came from 😉

This bookmark is really quite simple and relatively easy to make. Ofcourse I start out with a firm grey colored cardstock and glue some nice polka dotted mustard paper over it. A diecut or two with a lovely digital stamped quote and alittle ribbon/twine to complete it.

And yes, I truly believe in the saying, True love stories never have endings.

Here are the pictures :-

Another Magnetic Bookmark.

I’m glad so many of you’ll liked the magnetic bookmark tutorial.

Here is another one, designed similar to the first one with the same quote, which is so dear to me.

Thursday

I am so overwhelmed becoz I have so many previous projects to update in my blog. August has been a very busy month here in Dubai. So its going to be a very gradual process of uploading the scores of new ideas, that I had tried out ~ some turned out fantastic while some were, lets just say, a wee bit of a disappointment !

Anyway, I’ve had fun, and I suppose, thats all that matters. So you too, keep coming up with ideas and put them into action. Thats all that counts ~ not the end result. That will come. It always does 🙂

Good bye till we meet again.

Stay safe.

Magnetic Bookmark Tutorial.

Here is a quick tutorial on how to go about making a very simple but unique magnetic bookmark.

Some of the material you’d need, is an A4Size thick cardstock which is folded in half. I think, I’ll let the photos do the talking from here.

These magnetic cubes are the only exceptional item in making this bookmark. You can easily cut one of the cubes in half.

The A4 size cardstock is first folded in half.

You can then create your bookmark topper as you would want. Embellish it with simple designs or ribbons. I have used a computer printed lovely sentiment on the front with abit of some craft punch and left the inside with some DP. After the DP is stuck on the inside of the bookmark, we then stick the magnet pieces on the inside end of the bookmark as shown below.
